About Morgan-Evans Equestrian

Morgan-Evans Equestrian is owned and managed by Richard and Tiffany Morgan-Evans, who have been running their yard since September 2011, supported by a very reliable team.

Richard Morgan-Evans

Prior to setting up Morgan-Evans Equestrian, Richard was assistant head person at Shadwell’s Pre-training and Rehabilitation Department, where he helped to manage up to 20 staff. They would have up to 40 horses in their care on the specialist rehabilitation and pre training unit for flat racehorses. Snarehill is the UK hub for HH Sheikh Hamdans worldwide equine business, his trainers in America, Australia, Dubai, South Africa, France and the UK may send horses to this unit for veterinary treatment or rest and rehab. This centre of excellence had daily visits from top class vets. Richard was responsible for checking the horses morning and evening, administering treatments/medications and all associated administration tasks. Alongside the Head Lad, Richard organised and supervised the operation of the horse treadmills, equine spa, and all day to day house-keeping of the yard including feeding, mucking out, long reining and riding. Towards the end of his time at Shadwell Richard was set the task of running the sales teams when selling Shadwell horses, which was a great experience.

Richard initially started at Shadwell as second Head Person in the breaking yard, being responsible for breaking some of the finest racehorses in the world; he helped to manage a team of 15 staff, breaking up to 40 yearlings at a time. In this role Richard learnt new skills and improved his attention to detail. He supervised and was hands on in all stages of breaking; rollering, long reining and backing in addition to arranging farriers, worming, daily exercise sheets, feeding programmes, morning and evening checks for injury particularly legs and tendons. Richard moved departments to pursue an opportunity in the faster paced, busier, pre-training yard with a much greater turnover of horses and a more varied work load.

For eight years prior to Joining Shadwell Stud and returning to his Norfolk roots, Richard enjoyed some years riding over fences as an amateur. He worked in various parts of the UK for a number of trainers, during several summers he rode in Newmarket for ‘WILLIAM HAGGAS’. He spent time in Lambourn working for RICHARD PITMAN riding for him at his pre training yard and free lanced for BRIAN MEEHAN and ANDY TURNEL.

Whilst riding in point to points and for TOM GEORGE in Gloucestershire Richard also spent a year at THE ROYAL AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE, Cirencester, doing an Equine Business diploma. He spent a summer with ED DUNLOP at Gainsborough Stables and during the foot and mouth outbreak in the UK he went to NEW ZEALAND and rode in races around Auckland.

Tiffany Morgan-Evans

Before the opening of Morgan-Evans equestrian Tiffany set up her own breaking/schooling/competition business based at a yard in Hingham, Norfolk. She had up to 11 horses in her care at any one time. This involved the day to day running of the yard and working of the horses. Her responsibilities included each horse’s individual fitness and ridden regime, dietary requirements and medical needs. Tiffany dealt with the vet/farrier/dentist and physio. Part of her role was stock control so a good relationship with feed and bedding suppliers alongside calculated orders was vital. Most important was communicating and dealing with the horse’s owners. This experience massively developed Tiffany’s time management and communication skills.

Prior to setting up her own yard Tiffany enjoyed several years working in a range of equine spheres. Whilst eventing, she also rode for local point to point trainers Nigel Bloom and David Kemp. Tiffany was often required to use her experience to do flatwork with the racehorses to improve their general way of going. When moving back to the area Tiffany spent a summer as stable jockey riding for Sharon Hunt (Olympic Event Rider). She was in charge of schooling all of Sharon’s horses from Intro to Advanced level when Sharon was away, and would help her work the horses on a day to day basis. Tiffany was lucky enough to have regular tuition from Sharon, which was invaluable. She spent some time in Wiltshire based with Niki Ryan (Picnic Party Eventing). Here she gained a lot of competition riding experience. Tiffany had several horses to compete from Intro to Intermediate Novice Level. She also enjoyed some time riding out for Richard Pitman at his pre-training facility in Lambourn.

Her first significant role in a professional yard came when taking the position as Head Girl for Ruth Edge (International Event Rider). Tiffany was in charge of 16 elite event horses and ran a small team of staff. She learnt to deal with the pressure of caring for very valuable animals under a strict training programme. Tiffany was fortunate enough to experience taking horses to the prestigious Badminton and Burghley 4* 3 day events. She worked alongside some of the top British vets to maintain the horses health and soundness.

This has all given Tiffany a very good grounding and an extremely educational experience. She is extremely ambitious and feels passionate about assisting Richard in establishing Morgan-Evans Equestrian.
